Starting a new Teacher Inquiry project

I’m excited to be starting a new inquiry project about my classes. This is a project through the Northern California Writing Project. We will find a question (each of us our own question), observe our students through the lens of this question, keep a log of what’s going on in the classroom, and in the end we will share our projects with one another. I love doing this sort of thing and am very excited to be beginning.

My first year of teaching middle school, I wrote on this blog every Friday evening, just in case I ever wanted to do some close looking at what I and my students were doing. That is still on this blog, and I will probably reread it at some point just to see what has changed from then to now. I also plan to use this blog in a similar way as I did that year, making regular entries about my classroom. I hope to be able to focus on a question soon so that my blog entries are purposeful. Feel free to follow along or not. If it gets boring, I apologize. My goal is that it serves the purpose of helping me to focus and learn. Don’t feel insulted if I make some of the posts private. Sometimes I need to do that.

I have also just started an inquiry project with my new camera. It is way more complicated than the old one, so I’m experimenting with it all the time. I’ll fold those experiments in here just to add a visual element to this metacognition!

Hello? Is anyone there? Well then, adios for now and I’ll be back soon.

I didn’t realize you had this blog. I have your other one listed on my blogroll and check it pretty regularly, but assumed, since it doesn’t update often, that you just weren’t writing much. Guess I need to to add this to my blogroll or I will forget to come by and check.

Delaine, I have been in a slump with the other one for a while, ever since school started. I’m trying to reinvigorate myself with regards to both of my blogs. This one is my original blog, and I try to put all my school related thought here. The other one is more my personal miscellanea!

Mary, I am indeed back at the sunsets. I have a few new ones to put on Flickr pretty soon. Thanks for commenting on them!

msbecs: Thanks for reading. I hope you continue to stop by and leave a comment.

    Thanks everyone.
